3). Pick one concept or idea from this week's assigned reading and discuss it. Be sure to relate the concept/idea to your personally by using examples from your life and/or experiences.
For this final post I wanted to relate a semi-personal
experience about stress. Everyone has experienced stress before and I am no
exception. Despite this, I generally handle stress very well and I manage to
stay in control of my physical and emotional health most of the time. My
parents have been going through a really nasty divorce for about three years.
Thus, they are experiencing relationship stress and personal stress as well.
Having been married for over twenty years, my parents have a lot to disassemble
in a divorce. Neither of my parents handles stress well and it has been to both
of their detriments. Since the divorce process began, my dad has been
hospitalized for having a heart attack. Recently my mom started having
nosebleeds on a daily basis, seemingly, for no reason. It turns out that her
blood pressure is so high that the nosebleeds are a result of all of the literal
(and figurative) pressure. They are both sick often and are frequently
overly-tired and unavailable. It is definitely true that at a certain point,
stress decreases productivity and can have huge consequences in relation to one’s
health.
